Consciousness
We have been educated and conditioned to believe that consciousness is an ‘epiphenomenon’, somehow generated by complex neuronal firing in the brain – despite the fact that there is not one bit of empirical scientific evidence to support that view.
In fact, there is an increasing amount of evidence, from multiple scientific fields, to suggest the contrary, supporting what the mystics have been telling us for thousands of years – that consciousness is primary, not secondary.
This vision suggests that we are within consciousness – it is not within us. It is indeed the Ground of All Being, the very matrix of awareness within which all phenomenal manifestation appears. This session will explore this ancient metaphysical understanding of consciousness and how it relates to some cutting edge modern science.
This enquiry also exposes the Transhumanist fallacy that underpins the Singularity and the notion of immortality being attained in a post-biological future, by reducing consciousness to binary computer code. Ultimately, this pursuit can be seen as the ultimate extension of egoic human hubris and now threatens the future of all life.
How can we best engage with this paradigm shift?
Can psychedelics, meditation and mindfulness help in this transition?
What distinguishes self-improvement from Self-realisation?
This enquiry will lead to a new understanding of concepts like the ‘ego’ and the interdependence of all life.
And this in turn can inform a new world-view to underpin our political and economic systems, thereby allowing us to create systems that support a regenerative and replenishing culture, as opposed to a culture that is inherently degenerative and depleting.
